Um... I want to ask anybody who knows how to fight...

How do you pick a weapon? I mean... how do you know what suits you best? Do you try them until you figure it out, or do you let someone pick for you? And what if you-

[Simon's going to be chilling out around the stairs at the entrance of community building 7, a sheathed sword tucked against his shoulder, holding an unsealed envelope and gazing at either it or the snow. He's bundled up for the cold, at least, but he doesn't seem bothered by it for once.

Every now and then he'll pull out the letter inside the envelope, read it, and cup his hands around the Core Drill at his neck, focused and intense. Nothing seems to happen though, so he'll quickly give up and go back to whatever he was doing before. As always, Boota is with him, though he's probably buried in the snow by the stairs or wandering around a bit.

Bother him?]

Tell you what, kid, in my experience, you pick up whatever weapon is handy and if the other guy manages to not kill with what he's holding, you've got a winner.

A weapon should be one that you are comfortable wielding, and that suits whatever you aim to fight. Of course, one should never take a weapon lightly.

I started using toy swords when I was a kid, so that gave me a bit of an edge. Guess what you could do is find someone to teach you, maybe experiment and see what works best.

Well, I have a teacher. And he's really good, so I don't want to let him down... I just don't know how to be sure if a sword is right for me.

I chose a jitte because it's an added advantage against swords and it's easier to incapacitate someone with it without killing or severely injuring them.

[Simon hears that stomping sound almost too late, head lifting and glancing back right as Kamina starts to roar his name. At once Simon yelps, diving off the stairs just in time to miss getting decapitated.

If there is something else you would rather try... [Well, he'd have preferred Simon as him and not... everyone else in the village; but Simon would probably break under even a half-hearted scolding. He's a good kid. He'll let it slide.]

I didn't really pick mine on purpose... I just took a sword because everyone else uses one, so I thought it would be the most useful kind of weapon to have.
