Okay! [Simon never says no to a shoulder-ride, so he scrambles off the couch and scampers towards Cloud's voice, arms up to be lifted.]

[Up onto the shoulders you go, child! Okay there, now Cloud doesn't have to be as delicate with the couch too, since his child is no longer on it. Turning it around to squeeze it through the doorway.]

[Whoa. WHOA. She can hear you guys from the kitchen, so she's coming out to look, and--

...She sees an abomination of her favorite colors and flowers, carried by Cloud. It. It hurts to look at it, but she can't look away.]

Cloud? ...What are you doing?

[Oh hey, it's Miss Aerith's voice! Simon grips Cloud's hair with one hand and waves cheerfully with the other.] Miss Aerith! It's the best couch ever, and we found it!

Yeah, Simon found it outside.

Hey, move out of the way; I can't see around this very well, I don't want to ram you with it. [Grunt- okay there, good. Couch is successfully inside.]

[Aerith just narrowly avoids saying "But look at it!" to Simon. No telling that to the blind child. She backs up, still staring at the couch.]

I don't think there's room for another couch.

[Wh-what? But... it's the best couch ever...]

That's fine, we'll just get rid of the one we have now. [Let's wrestle that one outside.] It's uncomfortable anyhow.

[What. Epic backfire.]

[Well, maybe it's a little bland, but at least it doesn't clash just by existing.]

But... but it's a really cool couch... can't they both fit, Miss Aerith...?

It's okay, there's definitely room in your bedroom for it. We can move that one in there and keep this new one in here. [Cloud's so determined.]

[A-aww, she feels kind of sad about Simon--what is wrong with you, Cloud, this is such a horrible couch and you know it. ...Right? ...Maybe you're colorblind. You're getting a very odd look, at any rate, because there are no words.]

[Aerith finds herself wishing Cloud wasn't so strong because, y'know, it'd be a little easier to think of a way to talk him out of things if he actually got tired. Looking at Simon, so happy with the new couch. Staring at the abomination.]

...The flowers are pretty.

[While Cloud does the gruntwork, Simon manages to get down and plops himself right down on the couch again, getting comfortable.]

It has flowers on it? Are they pretty? Tell me what it looks like!

Lots of flowers. And lots of colors, too! Red and green and yellow and blue... [All over the couch. She'd probably like it if whoever had made it actually had a sense of knowing when enough was enough. As it is, her eyes feel tired just looking at it--too many details, too many patterns.]

So colourful... [Simon nods absently and stretches out a bit, fingers wandering over the fabric to follow the patterns as much as he can by the feel of them.] It must be pretty!

[No. No it's not.

...but Simon being so sweet and just a little kid, she really doesn't want to rain on his parade.]

Yeah, it is! [She sits down on one end to show her...sort of approval, hopefully avoiding Simon's stretched out body.] And it's comfortable, too.

[Okay, this can work. It just needs...a slipcover or something.]

[Simon beams and shifts a bit to get closer, since he's the cuddly type.]

[This is a topic she can be perfectly honest about. Aerith pulls him up a bit so he can sit partially on her lap. Hope you're not too old for that, Simon.]

I'm very happy to be here. I like everyone in this house a lot, and everyone's been very welcoming.

[He's eight and once an orphan. He is never too old for cuddles; thus, charmed by her friendliness, he leans right back to get cozy against her.] That's good! When you were here before you lived with Tifa, so we didn't see you too much. It's really neat to have you here this time!

[She frowns for a second at that, wondering--it's not odd that she'd live with Tifa, but wouldn't she have visited them every chance she got?

Oh well, not a problem right now. She wraps her arms loosely around Simon as she answers.] Well, I'm planning to stay here as long as all you boys want me here!

[A-aw, Aerith hugs. Simon returns it because he always thought she was a sweetie.]

Can we keep you? Papa and Uncle Zack always get really sad when you leave. [Him too, and probably Denzel, but there's no need to overkill the guilt.]

[Y-yeah, no need to go overboard on the guilt, she feels kind of bad already. She knows what it feels like to get left behind.]

I'm staying! I'd miss them too if I left. And I want to play with you again, when we're not keeping Cloud from setting the whole town on fire.
