[Action]

[Simon's feeling kind of down on his luck today; Denzel's gone, Cloud's still with Tifa, and Anise's kidnapping is sort of the icing on the cake. He's hanging out by the southern river closest to the shop plaza, attempting to skip stones.

Someone come cheer the kid up?]

[It is an amazing sight to behold. especially the boobs]

Just thinking. I hate feeling helpless, so I wanted to distract myself.

Ah, I get that, too. I usually fill that void with training. I can't believe they have dual swords here, much less mine. Makes coping with all this new stuff a lot easier.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
You fight using swords? [Doubletake.] Two swords?

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
[She pulls out her swords, 'Twin Honeysuckle', and shows him.]

Yup. Not big on massive amounts of damage, but if you use 'm right, you can rack up huge combos and if you're fast enough, you can keep the enemy from attacking at all.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
That's amazing! I can't fight at all without Lagann...

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, awesome, so you come a world with real Mecha!

Aaaah, I'm so jealous! Mecha's just a cartoon in my world... nobody's been able to build any giant robots. The most we have is a robot that does chores.

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well, it's just a drawing that moves. It's like having a book read to you, with images that move.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
A drawing that moves? I didn't know that kind of thing existed!

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Alkaid paused for a minute, thinking.]

Hmm. Do you have a stack of paper? Even just little pieces of paper. I can show you how it works.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess we could rip a page out of the journal... [He goes back to the grass and tears a sheet out, offering it to her.]

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[She laughs, kneeling down next to him.]

Well, I need a bunch of paper to do it. Can I just use the corner of your journal instead?

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, okay. [Here you go, then. Have a journal.]

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[She does a simple doodle of a ball. Next page, same ball, but a little to the right. She takes up a few pages, careful to keep it small.

After a few minutes, she smiles at Simon, and flips the pages, making the little 'animation' of the ball bouncing move.]

That's how cartoons work! You draw them panel by panel, then flash them so it looks like they're moving.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
...Wow... it's so easy, but it works really well! [He's never seen anything like it, really.]

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
For something like a bouncing ball, it's easy, but some people are really awesome and can draw giant robots frame by frame. And they just do it to tell a story, for the rest of us to enjoy!

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That's amazing! I wish I could draw...

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't, either, hahahah. People who can are awesome. I waste all my time reading or playing games.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't really learned to read yet, either. But I'm working on it!

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I love reading! I could help teach ya, if you want! I've got a lot of really good titles in mind, since I've sorta been writing up a list of my favorites from the stuff you can find here.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It's kind of weird. I used to know, when I was here before, but that was seven years ago so I forgot. Miss Raine's been teaching me at school, though!

[identity profile] icolo-alkaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, so you've been here a heckuva lot longer than I have... you must be way familiar with the place.

[identity profile] dawndigger.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, sort of. I've only been here for a couple of months, but when I was a little kid, I stayed here for a year. My memories of back then are kind of fuzzy, though.
