[Simon's feeling kind of down on his luck today; Denzel's gone, Cloud's still with Tifa, and Anise's kidnapping is sort of the icing on the cake. He's hanging out by the southern river closest to the shop plaza, attempting to skip stones.

he picks up a rock and chucks it across the water! skipping it perfectly and precisely all the way to the opposite side. ]

It's all in the flick of the wrist. [ he takes a seat next to Simon, picking up another rock and holding it out for Simon to see. ] I guess the type of rock matters, too. It's gotta be smooth and round like this one, see?

Smooth and round... [Simon nods, digging around until he finds one that resembles Yamamoto's.] Like this?

Yeah! And you position it in your hand, kinda like you would a baseball. [ again, he demonstrates. ]

Uh-huh. [Simon does so again, watching the position of his fingers carefully. That doesn't seem so hard.]

And with a flick of your wrist and a little toss, it should skip right across. Don't aim low, but don't aim too high, either; try to level it out with the water's surface. You gotta be quick, too- don't over think it. [ demonstrates how to throw, but he doesn't release the rock from his grasp. right now he's just teaching Simon the correct way to go about rock skipping. ]

Ah... okay. [Simon gives the stone a few test throws first before he finally releases it; much to his surprise, it skips a couple times before it sinks this time.] ...Hey, it worked!

Haha! Now you've got it. [ he tosses the rock in his hand, watching it skip to the other side of the river again and grabbing for another one, tossing it in the air and catching it. then he skips this one. fff s-sorry for the edit. ] It's really simple once you get the hang of it. It took me a few tries at first, too.

It's not so hard with practice. [Simon tries again, this time skipping a bit faster.] This is a lot better than just throwing them in.
