He might not have his journal with him. He doesn't strike me as the type to carry a book around.

[Pause. ...Cloud is so going to regret this offer later, but it would make Simon happy, right?] Tomorrow we'll go look for him, you and me. The village isn't too large, and someone's got to have seen him.

Really? [He's excited at first, and then he notices Cloud's expression and falters, unsure.] ... I mean... Papa... are you really okay with that...?

[Simon can't think of a response that wouldn't make Cloud upset, so he just keeps his mouth shut.]

[Simon's head shoots up immediately at that.] Wh- no, no! It's not your fault... you didn't do anything wrong. I was really happy when you promised me that...

[Cloud clamps his mouth shut. This isn't anything to trouble Simon over. Older or not, he's still a kid.]

[Simon hesitates a moment, then reaches out and grabs ahold of Cloud's shirt.] ...It's okay. We left Jiha... we got to the surface. It's not the same, but... I got stronger. I was able to fight!

[Yes, Cloud remembers the story. About how Simon ends up doing nothing but fighting, and after seven years of peace has his life torn apart again.

Still...Simon's relief and pride brings a small smile to Cloud's face, and he smooths down Simon's hair.] I know.
