Hey Papa! And everyone at home, I guess... I found a couch outside, and it's really, really comfy! And you can bounce on it! I dunno why it's outside though... it feels nice... who would leave a nice couch like this?

A-anyway! Can we keep it? It can fit inside, right?

Maybe we could get Uncle Zack to sit with us in the living room so he's not stuck in his bed all the time?

[Simon is referring to this monstrosity, left oh-so-kindly by the road near their house in this thread. Since he's blind, he cannot see it. So. Yes. :|]

....Well... I wouldn't exactly put it that way... though Cloud'll probably blame me for it. [At least she's teasing him about it? It's nice to get a breath of familiarity after all that fog.]

[She's clasping her hands behind her back, because she feels like if she doesn't she's going to tackle him in a hug or something and she's not sure she should do that.] ...Thirsty? Or I could grab you something from the kitchen to eat.

Naw, I'm okay. I might eat something in a bit, but I want to make sure I'm really better before I get anything in me. [He sits up a bit more, glancing around again.

...We got a new couch.

I think Cloud might be colorblind.

Cloud picked it? [But. What. There's so many colours. The couch was so colourful it probably could blind someone. He's never seen such a mismatched and dysfunctional collection of patterns. It looks like something exploded on a pile of fabric and wood.]

...It's awesome!

[...Which of course means love at first sight.]

[Cloud had come out to investigate when he heard voices, but had held himself back when he recognized them as belonging to Zack and Aerith. A few moments eavesdropping confirmed that, if not completely back up to speed, Zack was awake. Which meant...that he was recovered, he was all right.

Cloud pressed his back against the wall, sighing and pressing a hand to his face.

Zack was okay.

The topic of conversation moved on to the couch and Cloud snorted at Zack's exclamation, finally moving into the living room.] I told you he liked it.

[Et tu, Zack?]

I see I've been outvoted by you boys! I'll just have to live with it.

[She's plopping down on whatever space Zack cleared by sitting up.]

[Zack grins, both at Aerith making herself comfortable on the couch - how could anyone not like such a demented couch? - and Cloud's arrival.]

Damn right! Hey, Spike, check it out! SOLDIER Zack is back in the game!

[Cloud moves to stand in front of Zack and does what any other rather mentally unstable person would do in that situation.

He smacks Zack over the head. Hard.]

Cloud-- [She's getting back up on her feet, reaching to grab his wrist.]

[Three days ago a blow like that could have cracked his skull, given him a concussion, or any other serious injury - but now? Zack shakes it off like it was a tap with a rolled-up newspaper and lunges to tackle Cloud to the floor.

It is so on.]

[Cloud snatches his wrist from Aerith's hand so that she's not tugged down with them and does his best to take the upper hand in the fight. Luckily, he doesn't have to hold back any more, which is very well and good considering that he's actually quite pissed off.

Growling, he wedges his knee between them and tries to kick Zack off, hands reaching to grasp his shoulders and shove him away.] Idiot! Prick! You might not've gone because you wanted to, but he got the idea in the first place because you were dumb enough to tell him!

[...Aerith knows well enough from seeing both Zack and Cloud fight that her pulling them apart will never happen in a thousand years. She's backing off--and fuming, because she's not at all comfortable with it--but backing off, since apparently Zack's itching for exercise.]

[Zack wrestles right back, giving it his all, though he's already figured that Cloud will win because - surprise surprise - he actually is pissed, and he himself hasn't fully recovered from the mako poisoning and is a bit sluggish.] I told you, I just asked a question! I didn't think he was gonna just kidnap me like that! He was asking for volunteers, I never told him I agreed!

He's a scientist. [Zack has both a weight and height advantage, but it was obvious that he wasn't at one hundred percent just yet. If he was, Cloud might have had a serious problem picking this fight, but even then he still wouldn't have cared. A jerk to the side slips Cloud out of Zack's grip and he quickly pounces in an attempt to pin Zack down. Not very wise, since he didn't have the force of weight to back him up, but his options were a bit limited as it was so it was as good a try as anything else.]

You think he'd have just left you alone? You shouldn't have said anything to him at all!

[She agrees with Cloud, surprisingly. From childhood experience, asking any scientist lacking morals or ethical standards a question is begging for trouble. All the same.

...Storming to the kitchen.]

I was only asking i- [Wait. What. Crap. Where's Aerith going. Zack stops fighting against Cloud's grip, thus letting the other man pin him down, and follows Aerith's angry path into the kitchen with eyes wide with surprise.] Hey, Aerith, hold on! What's wrong?

You scared us. [Cloud gives Zack's shoulders another shove for emphasis, and the anger bleeds out of him as he sags, head dropping wearily. Now that all the fury is gone, he just feels tired and hollowed out, like an empty jar.]

You scared all of us.

[You guys could probably hear cabinets being yanked open and slammed shut for a few seconds before Aerith realized the fight was already over. She delays coming back just a little bit, and when she does her body is still tense, arms wrapped around herself.]

I should check if the boys are still asleep.

[Zack's stunned by Cloud's confession; to be honest, it hadn't really hit home before, how much of a problem it had really been, how hard it was for everyone. So for a long moment he's just in shock, stunned into silence and immobility, left frozen and still pinned. Cloud sounds... so tired. And even Aerith doesn't look okay.]

...I...

[After a moment Cloud sighs and climbs to his feet, heading for the hallway.]

Sorry Aerith. I'll go check on the boys. [Running away again; his specialty.]

[Which leaves Zack with just Aerith, who feels like she's got a ball of frustration rattling in her. She'd hoped they could just be happy once he woke up, but Cloud hitting Zack had touched off a few of her own nerves.

She walks over to Zack, looking down at his stunned expression. He's gotta get out of that somehow.]

C'mon! Up and at 'em, SOLDIER. Unless you're planning to sleep here tonight.

[Zack hesitates a moment, then pushes himself back to his feet, scuffing a hand through his hair.] ...Aerith, I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen...

[A quick peek into each of their rooms confirms that the boys -and Hurdy- were still asleep. Good, so they hadn't woken anyone.

Cloud still doesn't feel comfortable about going back to see Zack though, and instead just rests back against the wall before sinking down to sit. He shouldn't have gotten so angry. It hadn't been Zack's fault. But Holy, he'd been so scared that Zack would be...like that forever-

No, no excuses. No more. He should have just smiled and clapped him on the shoulder and welcomed him back. He shouldn't have taken his frustration and fear out on Zack, and when he'd just woken up, too. What kind of friend was he?]

Zack...

I know. And I don't want to hear any more "sorry"s, Zack. All right?

[She sits down on the couch one more time, and this time she's not planning to get back up soon so she's curling up a little.]
